On August 20th, I made a decision that I was going to start cutting fat and compete in a Figure Competition and win it. I signed up for the 60-Day Challenge and weighed in at 133.8 lb. with 13.2% body fat. I told everyone that I was going to do everything in my power, every single day, to get there and do it the healthiest way possible. I trained 6 days a week with a mix of weights and cardio. I cleaned up my nutrition and made sure to eat protein and veggies 6x a day with healthy carbs like sweet potato, brown rice and oatmeal cycled into the 1st part of my day. I stayed disciplined one day at a time, every day, with 2 to 3 grocery shopping trips per week, meal prepping 2 days ahead, drinking only water or black coffee with my meals. Being a mother of 2, a wife, active in the community and a full-time trainer at Life Time Fitness, this can be quite a commitment. This required waking up at 5:30am to do cardio and get a solid breakfast in before getting my kids ready for school. This required working out after my shift at 9pm or on my break just to get it in, even when I didn’t feel like it. I had to be on point every day while keeping balance in my life. It wasn’t easy, but I set my mind to this and made it happen. I ended up competing at Central States Championship October 8th, and I finished not only 1st place in my height class, but 1st place overall. I came in to Weigh-Out Week weighing out at 123 lb. and 3.2% body fat! I love this lifestyle. I used to eat junk food, drink a lot, etc., but with this lifestyle change and fabulous body, I never want to go back to any of those old ways. I cannot even stomach processed foods anymore, and couldn’t imagine missing my daily fish oils and vitamins. I love being an employee and member at Life Time, and the programs, trainers, lab testing, metabolic assessments and supplements are the best of the best! I’ve learned so much about my body, so I can keep it healthy on the inside and out! I would recommend this to anyone. I’m one of the most skeptical people, but they’ve made a believer out of me because I’m living proof that anything is possible with the knowledge of what makes me different, the willingness to change, and the determination to stay disciplined through it all.
