Jared’s Story

Hi, my name is Jared, and I lost over 30 pounds in 60 days during the Life Time 60day Challenge, thanks to the amazing facilities, products, & opportunities provided by Life Time Cypress. Before I get into the details of my journey, I want to take a moment to express my most sincere gratitude to Life Time for really stepping it up during the whole COVID event. So many other gyms remained closed, and some imposed rules and regulations that were beyond unreasonable, but Life Time found every way possible to stay open and accessible to its members, and thus, provided continued opportunities for members to support their health & immune systems through regular exercise!  For me, the last year has been especially challenging, as I am a motivational speaker who depends on the ability to travel and speak in front of large crowds in order to make a living. Honestly, I don’t know what I would have done without being able to access the best gym in the world during these challenging global circumstances.

For me, health and fitness have indeed been a journey. As a teenager, I grew up in an unstable home environment, and while I did participate in sports, I never really learned anything about working out or staying in shape as an adult. Furthermore, when I was 25, my own brother stabbed me, and I was hospitalized in intensive care and told that there was a chance that I would require a colostomy bag and feeding tube for the rest of my life. You can see the resulting scars in my photos. I am a fighter and always have been. Fast forward to 2015, I met my best friend, wife, and life partner, Tracy, who spent 17 years as a fitness professional. We both started traveling the world together in 2016 as motivational speakers, and in doing so, we both lost touch with our physical fitness and gained a lot of weight. You know how it goes with travel: fancy dinners, meals on airplanes, and long days that create insane cravings for unhealthy foods that are high in sugar.

Together, as a couple, we both decided to reclaim our health by adopting a fasting-focused and low-carb lifestyle, which, by the way, is amazing for organ health, brain functionality, and overall energy levels! Tracy and I have both had so much success with a fasting focused lifestyle, and learned so much about how powerful our minds truly are, that we both decided that I should see exactly how far I could push the power of the mind with fasting, and how lean I could get during this 60day event! I had also let myself go during the time of the quarantine, while the gym was shut down, and I saw this as a perfect opportunity to see how lean and ripped I could get! I feel like weight loss is something that so many people make into this complex thing when really, it is simple with a strong mind & determined spirit! I did a variation of reps 30 -50, 15 – 20 & 8-12, and I would always do them to failure for at least 5 sets! I also did hard cardio for an average of 20-30 mins a day 5-6 days a week during this whole challenge. I FASTED 48-72 hours at a time. Re-feeds were high protein to support muscle growth, and I stayed far away from sugars and foods that easily metabolize into sugars! During fasts, I drank electrolyte water that I made myself, which was basically a combination of water, Himalayan pink salt, potassium chloride, and baking soda. This solution prevents me from feeling dizzy and also prevents muscle cramping.

Now for a moment of vulnerability. I am super self-conscious about the loose skin on my lower abs that is only there as a result of being stabbed. One of my personal goals during this 60day period was to use fasting and a low-carb and high protein diet, supported, of course by the fabulous Life Time Collagen Peptide Protein Powder, to tighten my loose skin. I am grateful beyond words for this amazing miraculous product. Yes, I fasted and worked out hard, but I cannot believe how much that product has supported the tightening of my loose skin. To be honest, I thought it would never improve, but during the 60day challenge, I went through 2.5 large tubs of the Life Time Collagen Protein Powder, and now, my skin is tighter than it has been since the stabbing. This is such a huge accomplishment for me, and I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has lost a significant amount of weight, and who is concerned about loose skin!
