Dear Life Time committee, coaches, staff-club & corporate, and world,
I would like to thank you for the life changing opportunity that the 60day Challenge was and is.
EVERYONE should do it!
This, coming from a guy whose wife signed up to do it and I wasn’t going to…once again.
I’ve seen them come and go and I never really paid much attention to it. Thinking, eh, “I don’t need to do that stuff”.
Little did I know.
Then one day Coach Keon said, “Kelly (that’s my wife) signed up, you should too”. So, I relented. I didn’t have any BIG or lofty goals. I figured that I would support my wife, eat a little better, and lose a little weight. Which I needed to anyway really.
Let me tell you what. I got WAY more than I bargained for. I’m talking about a paradigm shifting, lifestyle modifying, life changing system, process, and education that not only has almost immediate results, but also offers a future full of health and overall wellness.
My wife, Kelly and I have been members at Life Time since 2005! Boy, I sure don’t want to do that math, haha! We chose Life Time because of the child care program you offered. Now those “children” are 20 & 17 with the later, who was a member of the Life Time Swim Team, is about to become a lifeguard at the Garland location.
Throughout all those years I worked out…lifted weights, that’s it! Cardio was not ever really in the mix. I just didn’t have the time, or so I thought. I’ve always been in what I thought was decent shape, but as I got older I started being more concerned about what was going on on the inside of my body, the things you can’t see.
And that’s when my wife and I started going to some of the classes you offer. After 16+ years! She, the GTX class and I, the Alpha. Boy, had we been missing out! Oh my gosh, what an awakening I had! I just thought I was in shape. Ummm no, I wasn’t. Sets and reps and cleans and burpees and kettle bells and squats front & back and wall balls and box jumps and EMOMS & METCONS and on and on and on….a whole new vocabulary…and I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t believe it, but I absolutely couldn’t do it. I could only do about 50-60% of of the conditioning exercises and the strength exercises were basically foreign to me. I felt awkward, weak, uncomfortable, and just plain out of sorts doing them.
Traditional weight lifting “work outs” do not prepare you for what you encounter in the Alpha class. I thought I accidentally joined some training class for Olympiads or something.
But, you know what? I got better!
With the fantastic coaches at Life Time, I got better. I absolutely could not have done it without them! They’re there. Right beside you to guide you, to support you, to encourage you, to motivate you, and to PUSH you! There’s absolutely no way I could’ve or would’ve done on my own what I did with their help!
Them, “Ok, we’ve got 4 sets of these 4 movements, count your reps, add them up, and improve each time”
“WHAT! You’ve got to be kidding!”
I never really knew how long a minute was until I started doing Alpha, haha! No, really!
Another thing I learned along the way is that it never gets any easier, I just keep getting a little better doing it!

What I eat, how I eat, what I think, and how I workout has forever changed. The coaches and the 60day Challenge have helped me to improve my fitness, eating habits, endurance, strength, and overall health and wellness. The Life Time coaches and staff were and are absolutely amazing! I have learned more about “proper” training and the overall importance of a “clean eating” lifestyle along with high protein, low sugar, and the right kind of carbohydrates.
I’ve lost over 12 pounds and over 5% body fat and I’m only 60 days in! I’m going to keep on keeping on and continue to build on what I’ve learned during the 60day Challenge!
It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle!
