Rama’s Story

If you were to tell me eight weeks ago that I would achieve the results that we could get during this 60day Countdown to Crush Challenge, I would have said in my dreams. Well, I am here to tell you that dreams do come true even when you think you are too [fill in the blank] to get them. I have learned so much during this challenge, especially about myself, that I had never known before, and this is coming from a two-time ironman finisher. I highlight that you are never too [you fill in the blank] to achieve your dream.

My wife and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this April. We wanted to celebrate it by traveling to a beautiful beach destination. Since the pandemic, we have not traveled outside of the U.S, and we wanted to make this anniversary special. We settled in beautiful Cancun, Mexico, as our celebration location.

Having goals is imperative to achieving new things in your life. For most of my life, I have been able to do this by learning on my own and executing. This has given me good results, but as we get older, we hopefully get wiser. I decided to contact Naz T., Personal Trainer at the Plano Life Time location, to get some advice on a fitness program to get in better shape for my anniversary. I have been seeing Naz for several years now, and he has helped me out many times, so I knew he would be able to help. I scheduled an appointment with him, and we met. During this session, Naz talked to me about the upcoming 60day Challenge and how it would help me achieve my goals. We did an InBody measurement, and he told me that I would be able to lower my body fat percentage to some crazy number. I was saying in my dreams in my head, but something about his voice when he said this gave me hope, and it made me very excited. I decided to join the challenge at this time. He then created a very comprehensive diet and workout plan that was very different from what I had been doing for a very long time. Part of me was unsure that it would work, but I decided to trust Naz and the program. This was a very critical turning point for me. For most of my life, I have done my research and created my fitness programs, but I would follow Naz’s guidance this time. He did say that I could get that ridiculous body fat percentage.

My initial numbers. Weight: 243 lbs. BFP:22.7%

We started with a 14-day detox, and we used the Life Time D.TOX kit, which was very easy to use and tasted good. The first fourteen days were a little rough but Naz and the staff at the Plano Life Time made things better every day by encouraging and providing excellent support. I set up bi-weekly table sessions with Naz. He asked how I was doing during these sessions and offered great support and encouragement. This made me stay focused and motivated.

Another thing to note is that being part of the Life Time clubs was the cornerstone of making all of this happen. Without them, none of this could have been possible. The facilities are exceptional, and every day I look forward to walking in and experiencing a better life. The halfway checkpoint came fast, and I did pretty well with my goals. I met with Naz, and he made some modifications to the diet program to ensure I was not going to plateau. We lower my total calorie intake to continue to rev up my metabolism. This was not too bad, and it worked. I continue to see the results to hit the crazy numbers had mentioned. At this point, I became a true believer in the program and in Naz’s ability to take me to the finish line with excellent results.

Then the end of week six-hit, I started to hit some walls. I was not making the numbers that we needed. I texted Naz, and he quickly replied with this “do you think you have it in you to do 10% BFP for the next two weeks?” at this point, I was down to 12.9% and was losing about 1.5% BFP every week. Hence, the trend was with us, but I knew I was hitting some walls. I replied, heck yeah! At this point, we had come too far to slow down. Well, the next ten days were some of the most challenging and most engaging I have experienced during training. I am no spring chicken anymore, but I had complete confidence that Naz would guide me and not let me hurt myself or fail, which gave me the willpower to finish strong. We did finish strong.

My final numbers. Weight 212 lbs. BFP:8.6%

Total lbs lost – 31lbs Total BFP lost 14.1%!

The number that Naz mentioned during our first session was 10% BFP. At 48 years of age, I have always looked at this BFP as an elusive achievement. Something that only extraordinary people with gifted genes get, and we reached 8.6% in 8 engaging weeks. Working with Naz and the lifetime family made this dream come true for me, and I am grateful for this and will remember this for the rest of my life.
