My story is not just about what I learned or accomplished in a single 60day. What I have gained is so much more. To be truly appreciated, it needs to be measured on a longer time scale across several 60days I’ve joined.

I became a member of Life Time in May 2016. In the beginning, I was 315 pounds. My body fat percentage was 40%. My cholesterol level was 320 and my blood glucose level was getting dangerously high.

With the help of smart trainers, multiple Resting and Active Metabolic Assessments and applying the knowledge gained from previous 60days, I lost 100 pounds of fat over the course of nine months, retaining my muscle mass throughout. My body fat percentage dropped to just under 10%. My cholesterol level decreased from 320 to 144 and my blood glucose levels are completely normal. In that transformation, I learned how to live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.

In 2017, after achieving my target weight, I wanted to break out of my caloric deficit without gaining back my weight. With the nutritional expertise of a Life Time trainer, I learned how ease out of my calorie deficit and restore my metabolism and hormone levels to normal. I could now eat enough food and maintain my new physique.

With the help of smart trainers, multiple Resting and Active Metabolic Assessments and applying the knowledge gained from previous 60days, I lost 100 pounds of fat over the course of nine months, retaining my muscle mass throughout. My body fat percentage dropped to just under 10%. 

Today, I am a fit person, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have any goals. I found myself struggling with mobility issues in my shoulders (too many years sitting behind a desk). I also wanted to build my strength. It was for these reasons, I joined TEAM Alpha just before this 60day.

During this 60day, I increased my calories with a careful eye on ensuring I was getting the right proportion of protein, fats and carbs. My body weight increased from 212.0 lbs to  220.1 lbs and my body fat percentage decreased from 13.9% to 13.1%. I am also lifting heavier weights in the weight room and in TEAM Alpha.

For my shoulder mobility, I worked with Life Time – Plymouth’s resident expert mobility trainer and with my TEAM Alpha coach. Together, we built a mobility program that I could do every day. At the beginning of the 60day, I could raise a PVC bar up to where it was almost over my head, but not quite. Today, I can pull the bar completely over my head and behind my back! For me, this was the biggest accomplishment since losing my weight. I’m now in a position to increase my proficiency in TEAM Alpha, achieve a higher level of fitness and reach new goals!

I’m proud of what I accomplished for myself in this 60day. However, the primary reason I keep joining the program is the strong member and trainer community we have built in Plymouth. Because of the energy and enthusiasm the Life Time staff and members have poured into this and previous 60days, there has been a tremendous transformation of the Plymouth club over the past two years. I’ve seen the club evolve from a building full of strangers, individually working on their own things, to a real community. I’ve seen several friendships form and people teaming up for group workouts.

The trainers in Plymouth are plugged into the member community more than ever. I can see it every day by looking at the number of people in TEAM classes and trainers working with clients all over the gym floor.

We in the member community enjoy paying it forward too. We had a large group of 60day Ambassadors for this 60day. These are members (myself included) who have experienced several rounds of the 60day and want to help people new to Life Time and/or the 6day program. We did things like help answer their questions when we saw each other in the gym, help them take their before/after pictures, etc. The Plymouth club has become a truly amazing place for us to spend our time outside of work!

I consider myself extremely lucky to call Life Time – Plymouth my home club. The staff have some of the most talented, professional individuals I’ve met. The member community is rich with a diverse group from all walk of life, people I am proud to call friends, people I look forward to sharing experiences with in future 60days!
