Michael’s Story

My wife came home from Life Time and told me about this 60day Challenge that she wanted to do together. I was immediately intrigued because I knew I needed to do something. I was a college soccer player and was always in pretty good shape. As life changed after having our two daughters I played less and less until I no longer felt like I could because of my fitness levels. This only made it worse, and I continued to put on weight to the point that I really stopped caring. I tried multiple times on my own to change my trajectory, but I would quickly get frustrated and give up.

My family is the most important thing to me and want to give them everything I can. The innocence and blunt honesty of a child can be eye-opening. I started getting comments from my daughters like “Dad, it looks like you have a baby in your belly!” and “Why is your stomach so big?”. I know they weren’t being mean, but it sure made me think twice about what example of a healthy lifestyle I was setting. Over the summer my girls would always be asking to go to the outdoor pool at Life Time and I would find myself being hesitant and feeling embarrassed to go swimming. We would still go but I probably didn’t have as much fun as I should have. I can thank them for giving me the motivation to start improving my lifestyle so I can better serve my family.

Going into the 60day Challenge I knew I wanted to lose weight and body fat. My overall goal was to lose 20 pounds and 10% body fat. To supplement these goals, I knew that I would have to change some of my habits. I didn’t really drink much water and just stuck to the staples of soda and beer. My goal was to cut those way back and drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. I also never watched what I ate or how much, which needed to change. I decided I was going to keep track of my calories each day so I would know what I was eating.

When I had my initial consultation with Tim I wasn’t sure what to expect. He laid out a workout plan for me and gave me the how and the why behind the plan. This was extremely helpful for me to understand how everything works together to create results. We worked a lot on my form and how to do all of the exercises properly which was great because I knew I could not afford any injuries to set me back. Tim also gave me great insight on having a balanced diet and started me on the Life Time All-In-One Protein. I loved it and it was a great way to start off my day. Ultimately, I left the session feeling excited, empowered, and confident that I could achieve my 60day goals. I can’t thank Tim enough for that!

Throughout the 60day Challenge, I found myself utilizing different parts of Life Time that I never really did before. I started “swimming” laps, not sure what I do really classifies as swimming, and riding the bikes. I should probably look into some adult swim lessons! Both were great ways to mix up some cardio sessions and found that I enjoyed the new challenges that they offer. I started using the hot tub and sauna to help recover and sometimes just decompress at the end of a long week. The awesome recipes that came with the 60day were an easy way to cook healthy meals. We were able to enjoy meals that we would not have otherwise made and they are delicious!

In the end, I could not be happier with the progress that I have made. After trying to do this myself many times and not seeing results, I can say the 60day was just what I needed to be accountable and stay motivated. I can’t wait to continue with my journey and set new goals for the future. With cutting out a lot of soda, I find myself not even craving it anymore. Amazingly, watching what I eat and how much, I don’t get hungry anymore when I used to go searching for chips or other snacks. I am waking up every day with more energy and confidence to take on the day and having more fun doing it! The 60day Challenge, Life Time, and Tim have given me a great foundation to continue the progress and maintain my healthier lifestyle!
